How NivOmatic began: a real problem, a simple solution
As the founder of a company specialising in pool safety installations, I had the chance to talk with more than 1,000 pool owners, private and professional, all over France.
Most of them raised the same problem: keeping their pool’s water level under control. Either they had not thought of fitting an automatic system when the pool was built, or the system set into the pool surround had broken down and could only be repaired at great expense. The solutions they had found were not satisfactory: dropping a garden hose into the pool and waiting, or setting an alarm that never beeps at the right moment. More often than not, a moment’s forgetfulness had cost them cubic metres of water and a flood.
Why the water level matters so much
Keeping a pool filled to the right level is a matter of comfort and safety. Evaporation and splashing cost a pool several litres every day. If the level drops too low, you risk damaging expensive equipment: the filtration pump, a pH control probe, or even an automatic cover. I have seen owners lose a great deal by neglecting this task, or by going away for a few weeks.

The birth of NivOmatic — 2008
So I decided to design, patent and bring to market a universal system for filling swimming pools, fountains, hot tubs and other water features. A reliable system with no electronics but a high-performance valve, which could be installed permanently in any pool — including infinity pools — while remaining accessible for maintenance. But also a simple system that could be used occasionally to top up a pool every week.
This is how the product was designed, in 2008:
100% French manufacturing and eco-design
From the outset, I was determined to keep manufacturing in France, with high quality and eco-design. The materials are chosen for their durability: 316L stainless steel, reinforced UV-resistant hoses, ABS housing. All our subcontractors are local. No injection moulding in China — we own our moulds. The plastic we use is recycled and recyclable.
The only wearing part is a small EPDM membrane, which we sell separately for €10. We are against planned obsolescence. All this comes at a cost — but thanks to our success, we have kept our prices unchanged since the commercial launch, with a single 15% increase on options in 2022.
NivOmatic today — 15+ years of proven reliability
Fifteen years after its launch, more than 6,000 NivOmatic units have been sold in over twenty countries. Professionals, public pools, therapy pools (spas, physiotherapists) and hotels use it every day and are satisfied with its reliability. Several of our very first units are still working — and will be for a long time to come.
